Welcome to Shelby Ranch! A 48-acre of pasture and hay-fields surrounding a horse ranch haven nestled in Pictou county, Nova Scotia, where nature’s abundance provides a perfectly refreshing, authentic and peaceful backdrop to our ranch.

It is our mission to make your visit a ranch adventure for your whole family to enjoy: have fun taking horse-riding lessons with us at our horse-riding school for children and adults, or have a full-fledged Ranch Adventure! Enjoy one of our various horse riding trail excursions, our wagon rides and sleigh-rides, meet our Petting Farm furry friends, and challenge yourself to axe throwing, or even mastering dexterity on our mechanical bull - there is a ranch adventure for everyone, whether it's a family outing, a glamping vacation, a corporate event or a special celebration!

Elizabeth Shaw

Elizabeth has been working with horses her whole life: from riding horses, caring for them, to preparing Standardbreds on race day.

Elizabeth has an English riding background and previous experience teaching from lead line to 2ft jumping courses. We are excited to have Elizabeth on our team, and she will bring great knowledge and experience to our riders.

Katie Creelman

Katie has been riding horses since she was 5 years old. Her passion is starting and working horses as well as helping them learn along the way. Katie is acutely knowledgeable and patient, she has proved this at Shelby Ranch while taking on the task of training some of the recently purchased horses at the ranch over the last couple of months. We are excited to have Katie on team Shelby Ranch and we look forward to watching many students progress thanks to Katie.

Shelby Gatti

Meet Shelby Gatti, owner of Shelby Ranch and an avid lover of animals. She is the heart and soul of the Ranch, having been riding horses since she was 2 years old and competing since she was 4! She started creating Shelby Ranch when she was just a high-school student. Hard work and entrepreneurship powered by her vow to bring her lifelong vision to reality, she built up her ranch into the wondrous adventure-land we know and love today! Shelby is well experienced in a variety of riding styles (English, Western, Pleasure Driving & Standardbred Racing), and since opening Shelby Ranch her one true passion is to instill the love of horseback riding in all riders, whatever their age and level.

Our favourite, affectionate and most playful Shelby Ranch welcoming-party stewards! They will be the first ones to greet you upon your arrival at Shelby Ranch, and you'll see them throughout your visit since they enjoy accompanying visitors, and joining in all sorts of fun! They are free to go about the Ranch as they please.

Feel free to pet them and give them a friendly fuss, they absolutely LOVE meeting our guests!
