Annie
Annie is our spicy little powerhouse. Talented, athletic and always ready to work. Barrels, Poles and Cattle Sorting...point her in a direction and she'll give it everything she's got. With plenty of fire, loads of ability and looks that turn heads. Annie is every bit impressive as she is beautiful.
Gem
Gem is our beautiful blue roan mare with not one, but two very different personalities. One is sweet, willing and an absolute dream....the other we are fairly certain was sent straight from the devil. You never quite know which Gem will show up to work each day and that's part of what we love about her.
Jill
Beautiful welsh cob with one eye. Having one eye has not slowed her down from doing anything. She's smart, confident and knows exactly how to get around. Tough, loveable and completely unfazed, Jill proves you only need one good eye to keep tabs on everyone at the ranch.
Maybull
Shelby and Maybull competitively ran barrels and poles before retiring to the quieter life of lessons and trail rides. But don't let "retired" fool you she still loves any excuse to open up and gallop across the field. On trail rides you will find her at the front of the pack.

Slice
Slice came to Shelby Ranch with a background in reining, but he's earned himself title of "babysitter". He's one of the most calm, easy-going and dependable horses in the herd, and he's especially good at taking care of riders who might be feeling nervous. He's patient and the kind of horse that lets you relax. breathe and enjoy the ride.
Nellie
We're pretty sure Nellie was suppose to be born a unicorn. She's beautiful, wild and has a big personality. Nellie knows exactly what she wants and usually finds a way to get it. We're also still waiting to find a fence that can actually keep her in! Life with Nellie is never boring, and that's exactly why we love her.

Kit
Before coming to Shelby Ranch, Kit worked as a pack horse on guided moose hunts; so she knows a thing or two about navigating the wilderness! She's steady on her feet, rugged on the trails and isn't afraid of a little rough terrain. These days you'll find Kit carrying riders on our trail rides. She's a tough, dependable mare with plenty of miles under her hooves.
Dolly
Dolly may be small, but she has a whole lot of personality packed into 13.2 hands! This registered Quarter Horse has two speeds; sweet, dependable pony-ride superstar and full-blown speed demon. She's excelled in barrels and poles, taught countless children how to ride, and knows exactly when it's time to take care of her smallest riders. Been there, done that and still full of fire, Dolly is proof that some of the best horses come in smaller packages.
Lightening
Lightening is the oldest horse at Shelby Ranch and a true ranch legend. After spending years patiently teaching countless kids how to ride. He's fluffy, spunky, incredibly clumsy and a professional food thief who refuses to miss out on anything happening around the ranch. And his one true love? Dolly; wherever she goes, Lightening is never far behind.
Ken
Officially Fashion by the Beach traded life on the racetrack for a much slower pace at Shelby Ranch. This handsome Standardbred once sold for $125,000 as a yearling and went on to earn nearly $500,000 on the track before an injury ended his racing career. These days, he's easy-going, sweet and has happily taken to life under saddle. From racehorse to ranch horse, Ken proves there's always room for an incredible second chapter.

Jack
Big, lovable Percheron who has absolutely no idea how big he is! He'd much rather be a petting pen animal, soaking up all the attention and being in the middle of everything. He's gentle, goofy and very lazy. If there is a way to get out of work or sneak in a nap, Jack will find it.
Kate
Kate is our been-there, done-that girl. Older, wise and about as trustworthy as they come. She's the perfect steady partner and does her best to teach Jack a thing or two along the way. Truthfully, if it wasn't for Kate keeping him in line, Jack would make a complete fool of himself.
Rocky
Rocky is exactly what his name suggests. The rock of the ranch. Steady, dependable and unbothered by just about anything, he's the horse you can always count on. Whether he's pulling a wagon, sleigh or carriage. Rocky quietly gets the job done and takes care of everyone along the way.
Ruby
Ruby is the boss...and she makes sure everyone knows it. Confident, strong and full of personality, she likes things done her way and has no problem keeping the rest of us in line. Underneath all that attitude, she's an incredible working horse who knows her job and takes it seriously.
The Draft Teams
Emmanuel, Emu
With his wild feathers, long legs and unmistakable strut, Emmanuel is one of those ranch characters you don't forget. Curious about absolutely everything, he likes to keep a close eye on whatever is happening and make sure he isn't missing out on any of the action. A little quirky, a lot entertaining and completely one-of-a-kind,Emmanuel always keeps us laughing.
Blondie, Highland Cow
With her fluffy coat, famous hair and sweet, curious personality, she has quickly become one of the most-loved faces at Shelby Ranch. She loves attention, never turns down a treat and has a habit of stealing the spotlight wherever she goes. It's pretty hard to meet Blondie without falling a little bit in love.
Coco, Alpaca
Coco is one of our fluffy alpacas and has perfected the art of looking adorable while quietly judging everything happening around him. He's curious a little quirky and usually keeps a close eye on visitors: especially when treats are involved. If you show up empty-handed, he's usually happy to admire you from a safe distance. Bring him a treat and suddenly you're worth getting to know. With a little bribery, Coco will stick around for some pats.
Cassius, Alpaca
Cassius is the boss of the alpaca crew and he has the attitude to prove it. He likes things done his way, isn't afraid to boss everyone else around and always keeps use on our toes she it comes to shaving and hoof trimming. And if one of our alpacas is going to spit? Let's say Cassius is usuallyy our first suspect.
