Service Description

The Ranch Rider Foundations Program is the perfect starting point for new riders who want to build confidence, develop riding skills, and learn the fundamentals of horsemanship at Shelby Ranch. This beginner-friendly program introduces riders to life around the barn while teaching the essential skills needed to safely and confidently handle and ride horses. Students will learn the basics of grooming, tacking up, leading, and horse safety, along with foundational riding skills such as mounting, proper position in the saddle, steering, stopping, and building balance and control at the walk and jog. As part of the program, riders will also gain access to our exclusive online learning portal, which includes 5 interactive horsemanship modules designed to deepen their knowledge outside of the saddle. These modules cover important topics such as horse behavior, tack and equipment, grooming basics, riding safety, and understanding horse care. This blended learning approach helps riders become more confident and knowledgeable both in the barn and at home. By the end of the Ranch Rider Foundations program, participants will have a strong understanding of basic horsemanship and riding skills, preparing them to continue advancing through the Shelby Ranch Riding Programs and Ranch Rider Passport levels. Perfect for riders who are ready to saddle up and start their horsemanship journey at Shelby Ranch.
