✅ No Experience Needed - Trail Riding

At Shelby Ranch, our trail rides are beginner-friendly and guided by experienced, friendly staff. Never ridden a horse before? No problem! We’ll walk you through everything you need to feel comfortable and confident on the trail.

👧 Bringing Children? Read This First!

We do not allow double riding (two people on one horse). While we understand parents want to ride with their little ones, it’s simply not safe — saddles are made for one rider, and balancing yourself, a child, and steering a horse is too risky.

But don’t worry — children are absolutely welcome! For younger riders, we offer a special option called “ponying.”This means a guide attaches a lead line to the child’s horse so they remain in full control of the horse, allowing the child to enjoy the ride safely.

🧢 What to Wear Trail Riding

For the most comfortable and safe ride, please wear:

• Long pants (to protect your legs from rubbing against the saddle)

• Closed-toe shoes or boots (no sandals or flip-flops!)

• Weather-appropriate layers – This is Nova Scotia, and the weather can change quickly. Bring a light jacket or raincoat just in case.

🌧️ Yes, we ride even if it rains! A little mud never stopped a good cowboy (or cowgirl).

🪖 Safety First – Helmets Are Mandatory

We provide certified riding helmets for all riders at no extra cost, and helmets are mandatory for your safety — regardless of age or experience.

🐎 When You Arrive

You’ll find our Trail Ride Barn at the back of the ranch, past the petting farm. It’s the big barn where your adventure begins.
