If you are in need of earlier or later pick up please make these arrangements with Shelby Ranch an extra charge is required for earlier or later pick up. Age Requirements Shelby Ranch provides activities acceptable for ages 6-15. Riding Experience Shelby Ranch has created a camp program that is suitable for first time experience rider, beginner rider and intermediate riders. How do we insure that this works? Campers are set into smaller groups when they arrive to camp according to their experience level so when it comes to the riding components of camp each rider gets the level of instruction needed. Do I need to purchase a riding helmet? Shelby Ranch understands the costs associated with horseback riding and that if you have a new rider you want to ensure this is something they enjoy doing before purchasing equipment that is why Shelby Ranch provides the appropriate Canadian approved riding helmets for riders. If you have your own you are more than welcome to bring it but it needs to be CSA approved. What kind of boots? Shelby Ranch required a boot with a half inch heel for the safety of the rider. Why? This insures that the boot does not slip through the stirrup. Cowboy Boot, Paddock Boot, Rubber Boots & Hiking Boots are all acceptable footwear. Packing for Camp: Riding Boots Change of clothing (Dress for the weather) Lunch Snacks Water - please pack lots of water as we keep busy.
